First Class, Some Origami

Class starts anew, January 9th.

First day, it looks like it's an origami type of day

I often do origami for the following reasons:

1.  I like it.

2.  You can usually find paper so a lot of pre-planning is not necessary.

3.  Since I usually talk to fast, and tend to muddle through directions, the

students have to talk to, and depend upon each other for the successful

      completion of the project.

4.  A lot of math, literacy(vocabulary), and some cultural items can be

      covered through origami.

Just another shot of students folding paper.

During class we talked about why it’s important to use art projects to enhance and further a students’ understanding of various educational objectives.  We folded some puppets, a hat, a boat, and a  bell shape.

I passed out a syllabus, but if you need another one click: 2012 syllabus

Next class were on to some elements of design; repeated, overlap, no overlap, random and orderly.
